Pandit Ashok Sharma is the worthy son of renowned musician Pandit Bhagatram of the music director duo Husulal Bhagatram. From an early age, he displayed his musical prowess by playing the Harmonium. Besides his father, he also had the good fortune of partially learning from the learned vocalist Pandit Dilip Chandra Vedi and Pandit Ravi Shankar.
Bright and clean Sitar playing is his forte. Apart from performing raagdari music concerts, Sharmaji has played sitar for film songs and background music since the early seventies. He has been the favourite of music directors Ravindra Jain, R.D. Burman and Rajesh Roshan. His mellifluous instrument can be heard in several hit songs like Chhookar mere mann ko, Humen tumse pyar kitna, Bheegi bheegi raaton mein, Jab deep jale aana, etc.
